NOTD: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color - Purple Potion

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Purple Potion

I purchased the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Purple Potion. I absolutely LOVE this color for the fall. In the picture above, it looks more purple (I don't know if it has anything to do with my purple walls lol), but in person, it looks more blue (at least it does to me). Maybe, this is one of those purple/blue colors that changes color based on the person looking at it. It's in a pearly (?) finish and it takes about 1-2 coats to reach true opacity, depending on how thick you put it on. I find that Sally Hansen nail polishes dry fairly quickly, and I love that - especially when you're in a hurry or just don't want to wait that long for your nails to dry. If you still don't own this color, RiteAid has a BOGOfree deal on all Sally Hansen nail polishes until tonight (Saturday, September 25th) in the East.

Funny Face Beauty Contest

So my laptop is still broken and I'm still in the process of figuring out if I want to: (1) spend the money to get the screen fixed (~$500 for a new screen, taxes and labor) or (2) buy the Macbook Pro that I've been wanting to get all summer. I guess it will all depend on whether or not I can somehow get a job within the month of October. I hope I can figure this out soon because borrowing my sister's laptop is a hassle for both of us. lol

Anyway, I wanted to post about FunnyFace Beauty's 300 subscriber giveaway. I'm a fairly new subscriber, but let me tell you, ever since I found her blog, I've read through ALL her posts. I stayed up until about 4/5am one evening just click, clicking away from one post to the next. My favorite parts of her blog (besides the haul posts, of course) are the monthly favorites and dare to wear challenges. I would love to try one of her dare to wear challenges, but I'm NOT very good with a makeup brush. I get by each day just by dabbing a little eyeshadow here and some eyeliner there and I'm good to go. lol

So, enough blabbering. Unfortunately, I don't have any readers, but if anyone happens to fall upon my page, I highly encourage you to subscribe to Alicia at FunnyFace Beauty. Don't forget to enter her 300 subscriber giveaway! The prizes include Mac, Urban Decay Naked Pallette, a super cute makeup case from Plaid Poni Designs and more. Good luck to all and thank you to Alicia for hosting such an awesome giveaway!

RiteAid Haul Series

I'm itching to post about my recent drugstore purchases, but unfortunately, my laptop screen broke =( I would love to dedicate this next series of posts to the lovely ladies over at Drugstore Divas. They have a WONDERFUL blog dedicated to shopping on a budget. These days, there's nothing wrong with being frugal and even before the whole recession hit, I've always been a penny pincher.

So, I got this post idea from the ladies of Drugstore Divas. I would love to share all the goodies I purchased the past two weeks at RiteAid. RiteAid has amazing deals and the UP rewards system is GENIUS (but sometimes, I feel like it's a death trap lol). The savings are even better if you take the time to search for manufacturer coupons and pair them with RiteAid VV coupons and UP rewards.

I'm so satisfied with my purchases; especially since I saved ALOT of money. I'm talking about $110 worth of stuff for about $35. I made multiple trips/purchases at various RiteAids around my house to take advantage of all the coupons and UP rewards. I don't know how long it will take me to put up the posts, but I will put them up as soon as I can.

COLLECTIVE HAUL: RiteAid & Target

Ok, so here's my mini collective haul that I kept talking about in my previous posts. It's not much, but there are other things that aren't pictured above. There's one thing you should know about me. I'm a total SUCKER for SALES. lol Every week, I look up the weekly circulars for all the drugstores that I live in close proximity to (ie: Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Duane Reade) and I look to see if they have any deals going on like BOGO free or 50% off. If so, I'm in there like swimwear. I swear, I probably make a trip to the Rite Aid by my house 2x a week when I spot a good deal. I try not to purchase things when they're not on sale . . unless I feel like I really need it.

Products purchased:
1. Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse Foundation (I went back two days after and purchased a back-up)
2. Wet N' Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palettes in Lust and Pride
3. Wet N' Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner in Black and Eggplant
4. Wet N' Wild Megalast Nail polish in Private Viewing and Sugar Coat
5. Alba lip balms in Passion Fruit Nectar and Pineapple Quench
6. Neutrogena Wave and refillable pads
7. Carmex Cherry flavored lip balm
8. Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Windsor Rose (not pictured above)

The reason why I have so many Wet N' Wild products is because my Rite Aid had a BOGO free sale for all Wet N' Wild products. -__-

Review: St. Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Polish

sorry for the VERY blurry picture. it was taken on my phone.

not clear at all, but the brown things you see are oatmeal flakes

Product: St. Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Polish
Price: $7.99
Size: 8oz/226 g

I was trying to look for a review on this product online, but I haven't really seen any reviews on it. Maybe they are out there and I just didn't look hard enough. lols. I've been looking for a nice body exfoliator/scrub and I thought St. Ives made one with the infamous apricot scent, but I might have been imagining that. Anyway, I just wanted to share what I thought about this product.

Review: I absolutely love this 'body polish'. It smells like shea/coco butter (well that's what it smells like to me) and it has tiny grains and oatmeal flakes in it as well.  I use this about 2-3 times a week (depending on if I remember to take it with me to the shower; I don't like sharing my shower stuff so I usually keep it in my room =\ lol).  I don't use a loofa or scrub with it so I usually use my fingers to apply it. When you first put it on your skin it's grainy but the grains sort of melt away and it becomes more sudsy (?..if that makes sense lol); then you just rinse your body like normal.  At first I was hesitant about purchasing it because of the coco butter smell, but it grew on me.  In my opinion, I feel like my skin does feel so much smoother and cleaner, but of course you would need to use some type of moisturizing body lotion along with it once you get out of the shower.

You don't have to take my word for it but I would recommend this product. This is my personal opinion and some people may not like it, but I love it.

PS: I know I said I would have a collective haul, but the picture is on my camera and I'm too lazy to upload it right now. lols

NOTD: Wet N' Wild Megalast - Private Viewing

I have a huge obsession with nail polish. Everytime I step foot into a drugstore, I always find my way to the nail polish displays. I don't own any high end nail polishes, like OPI or China Glaze, but I would love to try them one day . . . one day, when I have the funds to purchase them. I find myself on websites like Transdesign.com and 8ty8beauty.com, but I can't bring myself to put down money for them. Anywho, every week or so I'll post pictures when I get the chance to change my nail polish color.

the flash takes away from the actual opacity of the nails

So right now, I have Wet N' Wild Megalast nail polish in 204A Private Viewing and Wet N' Wild clear nail protectant on my nails. I love this nude color; perfect for work. It's very sheer so it took me about 3 coats to achieve the same opacity of the color in the bottle. Nonetheless, it's still a beautiful color and for $1.99, you can't go wrong.

the beginning of a new month

today's the first day of september. it's time to get cracking on the job hunt - but i'm hopeful that i will somehow find a job before the end of this month. i'm going to have to be more stingy when it comes to my money, but that's almost impossible with my shopping addiction. lol the quicker and the sooner i get a job offer, the sooner i can get this blog rolling. but only time will tell.

i went to pick up the wet n wild creme eyeliner in black and eggplant and ended up buying two nail polishes; one in nude and one in a light pink/french manicure color. i'll probably include them in my haul blog, along with swatches. i cant wait to try the creme eyeliners, but i need to get my hands on the avon bent eyeliner brush and the neutrogena oil free eye makeup remover first. i've heard that the wet n wild creme eyeliners are really tough to remove. i've been looking for a more affordable makeup remover because the lancome bi-facil makeup remover is a little too expensive to buy all the time.

my next post should definitely be a collective haul blog, but i don't know how long it will take for me to get it up since my camera is really whack. i don't have the funds yet to purchase a new camera but one day i will. for now, i'll try to make do with what i have.
